Your students will enjoy creating their own turkeys.
Math
- Students can make colorful patterns on the feathers (e.g. red, orange, brown, red, orange brown.)
- Students create math problems by coloring the feathers. They feathers can be made into addition, multiplication or division math problems (e.g. 3 brown + 3 yellow = 6 or 3 red X 3 brown = 9).
Art
Use as a coloring page to take home. You may like to display the turkeys on the classroom bulletin board. Stapling the coloring pages onto brown or yellow construction paper will create a nice frame around the coloring page. Turkeys in Disguise is also a fun activity.
Thanksgiving Book to Read:
Grades: K-2
During the Thanksgiving, students will love making a pilgrim puppets. Each pilgrim has a corn on the cob in his hand. These pilgrims are fun and easy to make.
Materials:
- Free "Pilgrim" Puppet Template
- Construction paper
- Yarn (for hair)
- Paper bag (1 per child)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Wiggle eyes or kids make and cut out their own eyes (2 per child)
- Pom pom (optional for nose, or use the nose provided.)
- Black marker.
Instructions:
Teacher
- Print the template onto card stock.
- Cut out the template.
- Trace onto the construction paper.
Students
- Cut out each piece of the pilgrim.
- Glue the head onto the bottom of the paper bag.
- Glue the costume onto the side of the paper bag.
- Glue on the collar & cuffs.
- Glue on the hands. Cut the hand 3 times to make 4 fingers.
- Glue the corn on the cob into a hand.
- Glue on the hair.
- Glue on the hat.
- Glue the black ribbon and buckle onto the hat.
- Glue on the wiggle eyes.
- Glue on the nose provided or use a pom pom.

This "Wise Owl Bank" is an ideal craft for Fall. This craft can follow-up a lesson about the importance of saving money. The "Wise Owl Bank" can be used by the teacher as a container to store the classroom money used for teaching. Students will love creating their own "Wise Owl Banks" to bring home.
Materials:
"Wise Owl Bank" template
Construction paper (any colors, but the template has a guide if you want help choosing colors)
Feathers (optional, 3 per child, any matching color)
Baby formula container or coffee container (1 per child)
Scissors
Glue
Wiggle eyes (2 per child)
Glitter
Instructions:
Teacher
- Print the template onto card stock.
- Cut out the template.
- Trace onto the construction paper.
Students
- Make a hole in the lid (large enough to fit money).
- Use glue to cover the container and lid with construction paper.
- Use scissors to cut through the hole in the construction paper on the lid.
- Cut out the head, body, wings and beak.
- Glue the body, head & wings onto the container.
- Glue the beak towards the bottom of the head.
- Glue on the wiggle eyes.
- Glue a feather on top of the head (optional).
- Squeeze some glue where you would like to add glitter. Sprinkle the glitter on the container (optional).
Here's a free "Scarecrow" Puppet Craft Template
Grades: K-2
During the Fall, students will love making scarecrow puppets. Each scarecrow has a crow on his shoulder. These scarecrows are fun and easy to make.
Materials:
Free "Scarecrow" Puppet Craft Template
Construction paper (yellow, blue, brown or black)
Yarn (yellow) or straw
Paper bag (1 per child)
Scissors
Glue
Large wiggle eyes for scarecrow (2 per child)
Small wiggle eyes for crow (2 per child)
Black pom pom. This is the crow. (1 per child)
Black marker.
Instructions:
Teacher
- Print the template onto card stock.
- Cut out the template.
- Trace onto the construction paper.
Students
- Cut out the head, body, arms, legs and hat.
- Glue the head onto the bottom of the paper bag.
- Glue the body onto the side of the paper bag.
- Glue on the arms, legs and hat.
- Glue on the wiggle eyes.
- Make a nose shaped like a carrot towards the middle of the face (in pencil). Trace over it with black marker. Color it in orange (like a carrot).
- Make a smile with a pencil. Trace over it with black marker.
- Cut the straw or yellow yarn into small pieces and glue onto the ends of the legs and arms. Also, glue a few pieces on the head hanging out from underneath the hat.
- Glue the black pom pom (crow) onto the scarecrow's shoulder.
- Glue on the crows wiggle eyes.
- Glue on the grows beak using a small piece of yarn or straw folded in half. Put a dab of glue in the middle.
