Bring on the School Supplies! July 14 2009
There's a quote from the movie You've Got Mail - "Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address."
I crave the smell of freshly sharpened pencils, so much so that I have an electric pencil sharpener on my desk that I use regularly. Aside from a new lunch bag, I'm done buying school supplies for my going-to-be-a-second-grader, and if you didn't realize (which you probably did) the best time to buy school supplies is NOW.
In late August, the deals become murky, the coupons nonexistent, and the crowds overwhelming. The only fender bender I've experienced was in a Target parking lot the third week in August. It's going to get dangerous out there.
And don't forget, teachers need school supplies too, and I've been searching for the best. In the coming weeks, keep a look out for my 2009 MUST List for Teachers!
